The Alamo River feeds into the Salton Sea near Niland, CA. The Alamo River starts in Mexico and picks up irrigation runoff and factory effluent from the surrounding area.

A massive Tilapia die off in 2011. Seasonal temperature fluctuations lead to algae blooms, which suffocate the Tilapia that die from lack of oxygen in the water.

Salvation Mountain at night. Salvation Mountain is a religious monument created by Leonard Knight, who has lived in the desert for decades. Leonard suffered a stroke in 2011 and is now in a nursing home.

Donna Solem has spent her winters at the Fountain of Youth Spa for the last five decades. Solem is from the St. Paul Minnesota area and originally came to the spa with her parents after World War II.
